2025 CONVENTION PRESIDENT'S WELCOME ADDRESS

It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 St. Patrick’s College Old Boys Alumni Association (SPACO-USA) 5th biennial convention in San Jose, California.
On behalf of SPACO-USA, we’re honored that you have joined us today as we celebrate each other, and at the same time helping to raise funds for our beloved alma mater, St. Patrick’s College Emene, Enugu.
Special thanks to tonight’s Honorable Chairman, Chief Launcher, Keynote Speaker(s), the MC, DJ, Video/Photographer, distinguished guests, and all the SPACO alumni worldwide who graced this occasion and have contributed to our alma mater in generous ways over the years.
The purpose of the convention is to allow SPACO general membership, families, friends and well-wishers to meet face-to-face, collaborate, share ideas, discuss pertinent issues that will inform the development of action plans that supports on-going SPACO Emene human and infrastructural development initiatives, and chart the future direction of SPACO U.S.A chapter.
The 2025 SPACO USA 5th Biennial Convention is built around the theme, “INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT AND SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME (human development).”
The essence of what SPACO-USA does is expressed in this sentiment “SPACO-USA gives back to a school that made us part of who we are today.” We are sharing our blessings from God, by giving back to our great school.
As the video clip presented to you would show, SPACO-USA, under its past and present leadership, has been involved with efforts on the ground to rebuild and modernize SPACO-EMENE. We could not have done it without your generous donations and support throughout the years. We are counting on your financial support once again today.
SPECIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS:
Since the formation of SPACO-USA in 2010, SPACO-USA, including individual donors, has made direct investments worth over 60,000,000 (sixty million) naira in the form of financial support for infrastructure developments. Some of the projects we have supported over the years can be viewed at the SPACO-USA website spacousa.org.
Infrastructure investments in the form of:
(1) Donation of 3-seater desks
(2) Library donations
(3) Donations towards the construction of 180 meters dual carriage entrance road.
(4) Completely demolishing, re-reroofing, and re-equiping the school’s refectory.
(5) Donations towards new water borehole, toilet/bathroom system.
(6) Donations towards building of ultramodern one storey hostel/staff building; first of its kind in the college history.
(7) Contributions towards the renovation of the principal’s office and engineered pathways.
(8) 220 bags of cement towards the construction of a secretariate that would house a modern ICT Center.
SPACO-USA Vision for The Future:
(a) Further financial support for the construction of a new Alumni Building that will house an ICT Center at SPACO-Emene.
(b) Direct sponsorships and scholarships to deserving students from underprivileged families (human development).
(c) Direct mentoring of students by our established alumni professionals in the critical areas of Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence.
We pray to almighty God to assist and strengthen us to continue to support our alma mater.
Finally, I’ll like to extend my gratitude to our convention planning committee team. And my Executive team. Without your dogged determination, all this fun and joy would not have been possible. Tonight, we are a witness to your dedication and hard work. Thank you for your unwavering support in putting this special event together. SPACO-USA is grateful!
